Angel Colon to head Kroger’s Diversity Department

Supplierty News congratulates Angel Colon on his appointment as senior director of diversity for Kroger. Kroger is America’s largest operator of traditional supermarkets and will see Colon replace former head Reuben Shaffer.

According to bizjournal “Colón has held numerous leadership roles in the grocery business over the past 27 years. He has worked in product management, direct store delivery merchandising, category management, promotions, sales leadership, broker management, regional marketing, customer marketing and ethnic marketing. He came to Kroger in 2008 as director of multicultural development for merchandising.”

As it pertains to operations the company is transitioning into a new period. In addition to Colon, Jerry Clontz and Dan De La Rosa were recently named as Presidents in different regions. Despite these changes, Kroger is a fantastic history as it pertains to diversity and inclusion and the team at Supplierty News expects this trend to continue.
