News of an upcoming Batgirl film has been released just as Women’s Month comes to an end. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Age of Ultron writer / director Joss Whedon will take on the responsibility of bringing the Batman partner to life on the big screen in the coming years.
According to reports, this version of Batgirl will follow Barbara Gordon as she fights crime leveraging a darker tone similar to the Batman Christopher Nolan films. While information on the storyline is scare there are plenty of reasons to be excited if you’re a Batgirl fan. This news follows the green lighting of other female costume crusaders including Wonder Woman and the Gotham City Sirens.
We aren’t sure if this film will play into the new DC cinematic universe involving Batman, Aquaman, and others, but with Joss Whedon at the helm, this could be a very interesting take on the female hero.
