According to reports, the global 3D printing market grew 28.6 percent from 2012 to 2017, ending in an estimated $2.2 billion in total revenue. It is estimated that by 2021, sales will reach grow by 5x reaching $11 billion USD.
So why the huge support for the new technology? With 3D printing, solutions that would take months to create can now be finished in minutes and for much less. For example, did you know that there is a form of digital dentistry? This means, you can get your teeth straighten by 3d printing ‘braces’ for a fraction of the cost. Align Technology created a concept that uses, “…digital scanning and 3D printing to dramatically change the way teeth were straightened for adults and teens.” Considering the fact that the technology is still in its early stages, there is no telling what the future holds for 3D printing.
As more information comes out about new and innovative ways people are utilizing 3D printing technology I will surely update our readers.
