Viola Davis looks to raise $250 million to expand diversity in film

Viola Davis is a trailblazzer for diversity in film.  From the critically acclaimed films Fences and The Help to pop culture successes like How to Get Away with Murder and Suicide Squad, Davis has made a name for herself as a quality actress in the industry.

As Davis seeks to build on her successful, Viola along with her husband Julius Tennon are looking to raise $250 million to expand diversity projects in film throughout the global.  JuVee Productions is an integrated film, television and digital production company that is looking to create a fund in an effort to “develop, finance, produce and distribute a slate of multiple feature films and branded digital content that will see the relatively young production company expand its footprint globally.”

There has been a shift in film and television with recent hits including Fences, Get Out, and Straight Outta Compton promoting diversity in various avenues.  JuVee Productions believes there is a further expansion in diversity and entertainment and are looking to tell even more stories.

With support behind them the production company is looking to release more projects including a “film adaptation of “The Personal History of Rachel DuPree” which Viola Davis is also starring in; a biopic on Barbara Jordan (the first Southern African American woman elected to the United States House of Representatives), also with Davis starring; and a TV period series set up at ABC titled “The Zipcoders,” set in 1968, about a group of black teenagers form a rock ‘n’ roll band who aspire to be like The Beatles; and there’s also Davis’ Harriet Tubman film with HBO.”
