Rashida Jones has been a key figure in the success of both MSNBC and NBC news coverage with MSNBC experiencing triple digit growth year to year under her tenure. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Jones was recently appointed the Senior VP of Specials for NBC News and MSNBC. Before her time at MSNBC, Jones was the news director for WIS-TV and previously the manager editor of MSNBC’s day side programming. NBC News president Noah Oppenheim spoke about the change in a note to his staff.
“She’s been a critical part of MSNBC’s dayside success-the best growth story in cable news. She brings deep knowledge of cable, breaking news coverage and events programming to her new role.”
As Jones takes her position, Mark Lukasiewicz, former Senior VP of Specials for NBC News and MSNBC, will stepping down from NBC news after 16 years.
